Tummy Tuck to Get Rid of Flabby Skin

Abdominoplasty, otherwise known as the tummy tuck has certainly gained plenty of popularity in recent years in sydney. It is one of the oldest cosmetic surgery procedures and it is very popular with both men and women. No matter what type of figure the patient has, abdominoplasty can be helpful in getting rid of flabby tummy skin and tightening up the stomach muscles, each gender tends to carry weight in the stomach area differently in general.

To create firmer, tighter looking abs and bellies, a tummy tuck procedure has been designed. For the patient, the operation begins with anesthesia, either general or local, but general is the most common. From hip to hip running along the pubic bone, the plastic surgeon will then make an incision. From the muscles and tissues, the stomach skin is loosened and lifted up and folded back. Combining abdominoplasty with liposuction is very common with many patients. The cosmetic surgeon will use a small tube to suck out the stubborn pockets of fat from the stomach region at this point if that is desired.

Next, by placing strategic sutures to hold the abdominal muscles closer together, the cosmetic surgeon tightens them. Over the abs, the stomach skin is then pulled down and the excess skin is removed. At the original incision line, the remaining skin is then sewed back together and the anesthesia is allowed to wear off.

Many patients are up and back to work after 10 days, although the recovery typically consists of staying at home to rest for several days. While patients should be advised to get up and start walking around as soon as they are able, they should rest and be careful not to make exaggerated movements or try to lift anything heavy.

As the blood gets flowing through the abdominal region after tummy tuck surgery, the healing process picks up and it will help prevent blood clots from staying stationary too long. After about 6 months, the complete results of the tummy tuck surgery are typically visible, when all the swelling has subsided. Differences in the appearance will not be noticeable much sooner.

As men age, they get a "spare tire" or even a "beer belly", which is nothing but accumulation of fat. They tend to put on extra weight. The fat sometimes is quite stubborn and diet and exercise may not bring significant reduction to these problem areas, resulting in saggy and droopy skin in the stomach region. A tummy tuck, sometimes combined with liposuction can erase these issues. In case of women, age and pregnancy takes a toll on their body. Abdominoplasty can quickly correct these issues. The women can get their slim and trim body back, with not sagging skin.
